Storyline

Synopsis
Lindsay is faced with a life-altering decision as Christmas approaches: Stay in her tiny hometown and marry boyfriend Jason or accept a coveted post teaching at an Ivy League college on the other side of the country. What to do? Fortunately for Lindsay, she has some big-time help in the form of a magical messenger who is able to transport her three years into the future to see how it would all turn out.

Plot
Lindsay Rogers, a successful academic writer, receives a lucrative offer from Yale University for her book. She is unsure if she wants to marry her dream man, Jason, and is disappointed when he withdraws in disappointment. In an emotional emergency, a coachman invites her for a ride, and they end up three years later in the future. Both Lindsay and Jason have become successful in their careers, but their paths have separated. Lindsay's parents' house is locked, and her mother has emigrated to Sweden with a new man. Fortunately, her grandfather still lives in his house, providing comfort.

Lindsay goes to the hospital to be examined for retrograde amnesia, but the doctor suspects retrograde amnesia. She meets Jason, who tells her he is getting married soon. She asks him to come with her to answer questions from interested readers in a bookstore. Despite her initial skepticism, she takes on the challenge and realizes her psychological advice has helped many people find their way and stand up for themselves.

Lindsay returns to Connecticut, but she still can't remember ever being there. After a phone call with her mother, she decides she doesn't want this life, despite the tempting professional success. She returns to her "old" time, where she is surprised and happy to see Jason, who takes her in his arms and suggests they go to Connecticut together.

Actually, this was not a problem. We are living in an Air BnB in Edinburgh, and the only television that is available is freeview (what is this... 2007?). This is the only reason I watched it. Whatever the case may be, we discovered that Great! Feature films: Christmas. 'Great' seems to be a hypothetical concept in this particular case.

Having all that, this specific film isn't all that terrible. In terms of production quality, it is comparable to Hallmark, and at moments it has the sense of a daily soap opera. On the other hand, it does have a charming conceit. There is a lover who has proposed to Lindsay, but destiny throws her a blow by offering her a massive book contract on the same evening. Lindsay's boyfriend has proposed to her. This is the proposition that she declines. Then William Shatner comes up for some reason and basically performs a Clarence from It's a Wonderful Life on her. He shows her what her life is like 3 years on (it could have been 2, I forget). She is rich...but is she happy? Good question! To obtain the solution you'll need to see the movie however.

It's a film with clumsy language and decent intentions. And it has a feeling of that celebratory warmth, even if it seldom rings true. Although it scores points for the casting of Christopher Lloyd as Lindsay's Grandpa; and an additional half a point for unabashedly giving him a line that explicitly mentions time travel. All in all, it's ok for what it is, if you chance onto it on a random freeview channel with nothing better to do for 2 hours then yeah, why wouldn't you watch this too?

"Just in Time for Christmas (2015)" is a heartwarming and charming holiday film that will instantly put you in the festive spirit. Directed by David Weaver, this romantic comedy follows the story of Lindsay, a busy career woman who finds herself transported back in time to Christmas 1995, where she must navigate the challenges of reconnecting with her former self and deciding between the life she has now and the one she once dreamed of.

The film's leading lady, Eloise Mumford, delivers a standout performance, seamlessly capturing the evolution of her character as she navigates the complexities of her unexpected time-traveling adventure. Paired with the charismatic and endearing Chris Carmack, the two actors share a natural chemistry that is both heartwarming and entertaining to watch.

One of the true highlights of "Just in Time for Christmas" is its attention to detail in recreating the nostalgic atmosphere of the 1990s. From the fashion and music to the overall production design, the film effectively transports the audience to a bygone era, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and charm to the story.

Beyond the central romance, the film also explores themes of personal growth, the meaning of family, and the importance of staying true to one's dreams. These deeper narrative elements, combined with the lighthearted comedic moments, create a well-balanced and engaging viewing experience.

Overall, "Just in Time for Christmas" is a delightful holiday film that is sure to bring a smile to your face and warm your heart. Whether you're a fan of romantic comedies or simply enjoy a good dose of holiday cheer, this movie is a must-watch for the festive season.

Just In Time For Christmas is another variation on the Christmas classic

Just In Time For Christmas is a frothy, light romantic comedy that hits all the right notes as far as the requirements for a Hallmark Channel movie go. However for these reasons it falls below expectations, as it is a “Hallmark Hall of Fame” movie and that classification invokes a much higher standard of entertainment requirements.

Just In Time For Christmas is another variation on the Christmas classic Its A Wonderful Life that airs over and over during the Christmas season. In this HHoF movie Lindsay Rogers (Eloise Mumford) gets a chance to see what her life will be like three years in the future. Her “jump” occurs after her boyfriend Jason (Michael Stahl-David) proposes and she doesn’t readily say yes.

She is carried into the future by a ride in a one horse carriage driven by a mysterious coachman (William Shatner). She doesn’t know she is being taken into the future and is quite surprised when she gets there. At first she attributes it all to the fact she is going crazy but later is convinced she has amnesia.

Jason is still around but there are complications preventing the two of them from getting back together. She has a blossoming career as an author and a professor, and he has some romantic entanglements.

The two leads have very little chemistry together and aren’t that successful in their individual performances either. She looks and acts Katherine Hiegl-lite and he looks like Ryan Gosling’s younger, nerdier brother. Shatner gets little chance to spread his charm but Christopher Lloyd does have some good moments as Lindsay’s grandfather.

The story both present and in the future is set in the Seattle, Washington area at Christmastime but cold weather is nowhere to be found. Christmas decorations line the streets but it seems more like summer than winter. However this could be part of the magical spirit of the events.

If what you want is another glossy holiday romantic comedy then this movie will feed your needs. You want have to think but can just let the story flow over you. You will smile here and there and might even laugh a time or two.
